North Atlantic Treaty Organization
30 delegate seats
About the committee
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is a political and military alliance of 32 member states built on a single promise: collective defence. An attack against one ally is considered an attack against all — the principle enshrined in Article 5 of the Washington Treaty.
Delegates sit as members of the North Atlantic Council, the Alliance's principal decision-making body, where every decision is taken by consensus. Debate covers deterrence and defence posture, emerging security challenges, burden-sharing between allies, and the Alliance's response to evolving threats.
Because NATO decides by consensus, a single delegation can block progress — making negotiation skills matter as much as speeches. A specialized committee for delegates interested in security policy, strategy and high-stakes diplomacy.
