About the committee
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to protect people forced to flee their homes — refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced and stateless people. With record levels of global displacement, its work has never been more consequential.
Delegates debate the hardest questions in international protection: how responsibility for refugees should be shared between states, how to guarantee safe and legal asylum routes, and what durable solutions — return, integration or resettlement — look like in practice.
UNHCR rewards delegates who can balance compassion with realism: national positions on migration differ sharply, and building consensus requires genuine negotiation. A strong choice for delegates who want substantive, policy-heavy debate.
